7 Mistakes Women Make Trying to Lose Fat or Gain Muscle
We’ve all fallen for the fads.
The promise of a quick fix to get lean and strong overnight. But real and lasting results take time.
Quick fixes often keep us trapped in a vicious cycle, making it harder and harder to see the results we want.
I say this having made almost all the mistakes myself.
That’s why I want to share the 7 most common mistakes I see my female clients especially making when it comes to losing fat or gaining muscle
00:00 - Lose fat or gain muscle
00:42 - Under recovering
01:57 - Diets with labels
04:17 - Stop skipping sprints
06:00 - Not eating enough
07:35 - Prioritize protein
08:53 - Heavy weights/cardio

3x The Effectiveness of Your Workouts (10 Tips)
Просмотров 25 тыс.19 часов назад
Guess what 1 of these 10 tips isn’t… DO MORE! Because too often in doing more we make our workouts less effective. We waste time and energy. And then we blame a lack of time for our lack of progress or our ability to stick with our plan. We even start to get frustrated with our lack of results for all the effort we put in. And this is because we’re constantly just doing more. 00:00 - Doing more...
Why 93% Of Women NEVER Lose Belly Fat

What’s the real reason why 93% Of Women Never Lose Belly Fat? BECAUSE IT’S REALLY… REALLY… REALLY HARD! I know I’ve said this before but I will say it again, you continue to emphasize the importance of protein, plus that we need all of the macros and micronutrients. I enjoy watching your videos because they are what I tell my clients, I’m a holistic nutritionist. I also personally know and see the benefits of lifting weights at 62, I started when I was 45 and I will continue for the rest of my life. I also do little things to challenge my balance, I do need to add some intensity intervals again though.

I have continued the routine I had in PT following a partial lateral menisectomy and chondral repair on my right knee. It still doesn't feel normal but just continuing that weight lifting has changed my body so much. Weight hasn't budged but I don't focus on that. I'm hoping as I strengthen my leg and my knee support, that I can incorporate more moves and work on my macros. Thank you for your videos, they've helped so much ❤❤

      KEEP GOING. I know it is frustrating but focus on those daily habits and truly assess your consistency with those habits. I think the switch from aesthetic goals to athletic goals is how you actually achieve aesthetic goals 😅. The moment I stopped worrying about looks or weight and started focusing on fun athletic goals like farther faster heavier and chasing things like can I learn to backflip? Can I sprint train without injury? What sort of flexibily/mobility/stability do I need to do those insane calisthenics moves?? Then I was training/eating in order to fuel something FUN not something that caused me stress (waist size). And let me tell you the body CONFIDENCE that comes from being able to do a dragon squat or multiple pull ups is second to none!

    • @redefiningstrengthOC
      @redefiningstrengthOC 9 часов назад

      Definitely setting goals that motivate us to keep at the habits that also yield aesthetic goals is key! Love that you're finding ways to keep yourself motivated, moving forward and enjoying the journey! All about pursuing those challenges we want! And often that hard work does pay off in so many ways :-) Confidence and strength are truly built through what we overcome and show ourselves we can do!

    5 days before my period I simply cannot exercise. I tried. Took another week to recover fully. So I just simply give myself a break that week before. I sleep more, eat more progesterone foods and when I get tired, I rest. Seriously, listening to your body is so underrated.

    • @redefiningstrengthOC
      @redefiningstrengthOC 9 часов назад

      Listening to your body is key but also, we have to recognize that so much of how we "feel" is also what we've TRAINED. We can feel full while under eating. We can train ourselves to repeat certain patterns. So responding to our body is key but also planning ahead to address what we "should" do and what may be needed despite how we feel also has to be balanced in. Meeting ourselves where we are at, while moving ourselves forward!

    • @redefiningstrengthOC
      @redefiningstrengthOC 9 часов назад

      Honestly tracking over the weeks is key to see performance improvements. If you're feeling strong and seeing your workouts improve, that's great. And recovery isn't just time off from training, it's how you fuel and sleep. If you're constantly feeling more depleted and tired, you may need to adjust your recovery. But you don't need to not train at all. It can be varying intensity or working other muscle groups to rest the areas that were worked.

    The brain burns 70% of the fat in the human body. Muscles of a professional athletes burn 30%. That is when they're on a diet being very careful of what they eat. So in order to burn fat you can sit on a comfortable chair and let your brain burn all of your fat. The only thing you have to do is not put back in your body the fat your brain burns. St in a chair and eat vegetables and meat for a month, i guarantee you will lose major amounts of fat. It is that simple. Of course if you also exercise, this will dramatically increase your good health and improve your life quantity. Do not practice exercising as a tool to burn fat. You will be disappointed. Your brain burns more than enough fat. Again, all you have to do is do not eat sweets, carbs, or drink alcohol.

    Most of this is spot on. All applies to men also. Where I disagree: if you are in a cut/deficit, make it deep and get it over with. That allows you to spend far more time in the maintenance and bulk phase. 100-200 calories a day below maintenance in a diet/cut doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

    • @michelleroo8828
      @michelleroo8828 День назад

      Deep cuts equal faster weight loss. Faster weight loss equals more muscle loss. That doesn't make sense to me. Losing the weight slowly is always the most healthy and better to preserve muscle, lose fat.

      Love that you've found what works for you. And while I do think mini cuts can be used strategically, there has to already be that maintenance level there. Trying to rush fat loss, especially as we get older, doesn't work the way it did when we were younger. Especially for women in perimenopause or menopause. Hormone levels aren't the same and retaining lean muscle as we get older becomes harder. So the simple fact is...muscle doesn't "bounce back" as quickly as it once did. Better to find sustainable habits that create lasting changes. Then once you have, sure maybe you use those mini cuts help as little short term boost done very strategically with even short term bulks. We are NEVER standing still even while "maintaining." But again...balance is different for each of us. If that works for you, great!

    *_I cannot tell you how much I love your informative videos!_* I messed up my metabolism by doing too many water fasts, working out while not eating enough (under 500-1,000 calories) for months. I dumbbells at home, so refused to eat before working out, but oftern I was so fatigued after working out I'd often end up just not eating, or having something quick, like a banana. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 lipedema which induces fatigue and also inhibits fat loss, so I thought it was just my body being weak. I found your channel a few weeks ago when I plateaued (60kg). Thanks to your tips, I finally feel better mentally and physically. I stopped weighing myself everyday. I've been focusing on strength and increasing my protein intake and sleep. I weigh exactly the same as my plateau when I found your channel (5'4" & 132lbs); but I'm no longer guilting myself and not eating, if I don't see the scale move. I've been measuring myself instead, and I have been losing circumference and finally looking less "soft." I know I still have a long way to go, but now I'm not miserable while losing fat and actually retaining muscle! Thank you so much for all you do, Cori! I deeply appreciate you! 🏋️‍♀️💖✨

      Have you tracked your macros and even assessed food intolerances? That is often key over even jumping to micros first. And then doing the prehab work to be able to slowly increase training intensity. And it sounds like focusing more on lifting may also help but you have to build up slowly. Have you considered working with someone to assess and even help you tweak?

    I'm trying to squeeze into that 7% of women who actually lose belly fat💪🏻 I'm in my mid-forties. It's been 9 months since I started to change habits, and 7 months since I started working out regularly. I watch your videos (to see your beautiful muscle tone) whenever I need more motivation. I've lost quite a bit of belly fat, but there's still a lot more to shred. I'm starting to see some definition in my stomach, though...well, if I squint hard😅 Hope I can continue this lifestyle forever.

      Great job! KEEP IT UP! There will be ups and downs but creating that consistency and giving results time to snowball is key! You've got this! (And thank you!)

    I'm 46 years old, 162 cm tall and 52 kg that's 85% lean mass, and 15% fat most of which is probably in my belly. It's taking longer to recover from workouts and I don't know what else to do to melt the belly fat :(

      Have you adjusted your diet? Made sure you're eating enough to fuel those workouts? Focused on protein? Doing prehab to recover or changed up your workout design to help?

      @@redefiningstrengthOC thank you! I eat 120 grams protein (maybe should increase?!) and ±1900 calories BUT I just found out I'm B6 deficient so I guess now everything, even perimenopause symptoms, will improve with B6 supplementation. Please make more menopause videos, the ones you have were very helpful. Cheers
